　　Have a distrust of somebody / something，對某人(某事)懷疑。

　　Self-distrust，就是缺乏自信的意思。由self-結(jié)構(gòu)組成的詞組還有很多，比如：self-dramatizing 自吹自擂的;self-educated 自學(xué)的;self-financing 自籌經(jīng)費;self-glorifying 自命不凡的;等等。

　　pretend、feign、assume、affect ,都含"假裝"的意思。

　　pretend指"感覺到某事,而在言行上裝出是真的",如: pretend not to hear　假裝沒聽見。

　　feign指"精心裝有或裝作",如:feign deafness　裝聾。

　　assume指"裝出有某種感情的樣子,以掩飾其真正的感情",如:

　　She assumed a look of sorrow.　她假裝著悲傷的樣子。

　　affect指"為達(dá)到某種效果而假裝有某種特征或情感",如:affect a British accent裝英國腔。

　　20、The secret of success is constancy of purpose. 成功之秘訣乃為目標(biāo)之有恒。

　　secret，秘密;機(jī)密 如：the secret of health 養(yǎng)身秘訣;make no secret of something 對某事毫不掩飾

　　constancy，堅定;堅貞;經(jīng)久不變 如：Constancy of purpose目標(biāo)堅定。

　　21、Knowledge is a treasure, but practice is the key to it.

　　知識是寶庫，而實踐是開啟這一寶庫的鑰匙。

　　22、A Jack of all trades is master of none. 樣樣皆通，樣樣稀松。/通百藝即無一長。

　　這里的Jack不是我們平時所指的人名，在這里是泛指無特長技術(shù)的人。

　　trade指“手藝”。

　　擴(kuò)展：

　　A good education gives a man a great pull.

　　“木受繩則直，金就礪則利，君子博學(xué)而日參省乎己，則知明而行無過矣�！�(荀子《勸學(xué)篇》 )

　　23、Man can climb to the highest summit, but he cannot dwell there long. ——Bernard Shaw

　　人可以爬到最高峰但卻不能在那兒久住�！�—蕭伯納)

　　summit最基本的意思是頂點、頂端，如：a mountain summit還有能達(dá)到的最高水平、程度這樣的意思，如：summit of career development, summit of ambition, summit of advancement, etc.另外，summit還表示最高級別、最高級別的，首腦會議、政府首腦的，可以做名詞，也可以做形容詞。“高峰會議”可以說summit meeting, summit talk,或直接說CEO summit。

　　dwell表示在某地居住，隱含長久居住的意義，是比較正式的用法，并且有dweller居民，dwelling住處等對應(yīng)的說法。

　　24、The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. 心有余而力不足。

　　spirit，(與肉體相對而言的)心靈，精神;flesh,(人的)肉體

　　這名話源出《圣經(jīng)》，有力不從心的意思。

　　25、He loses all who loses the moment.　機(jī)不可失，時不再來。

　　moment在這里不能解釋為“片刻”，而是“時機(jī)”。

　　26、Distance lends enchantment to the view.距離使風(fēng)景更富魅力。/遠(yuǎn)看風(fēng)景更美。

　　lend...to..., 有助于;適宜于;對......有用;enchantment，魅力;迷人之處;樂事

　　這句諺語揭示這樣一個道理：距離產(chǎn)生美;其實人與人相處時應(yīng)該保持一定的距離，親密無間不一定是促進(jìn)友誼的最好途徑。

　　這句可以和第七句參考著學(xué)習(xí)：7.A hedge between keeps friendship green.

　　27、Take the rough with the smooth. 逆來順受。

　　rough，艱難;(生活的)苦難方面;smooth，順意，平平安安的意思。

　　the roughs and the smooths，就是艱難與順利;苦與樂;人世的甘苦等意思

　　28、Actions speak louder than words.行動勝于空談。/事實勝于雄辯。

　　speak，(用說話以外的方式)表達(dá)思想、觀點等

　　29、A wreck on shore is a beacon at sea.前車之覆，后車之鑒。

　　wreck,失事的船，觸礁的船，(失事船只的)殘骸

　　shore，(海，湖等大水域的)岸，濱

　　beacon, (海岸高處的)指示燈，燈標(biāo)，燈塔。

　　直譯這句話就是，海岸上一只失事的船只就象海上的一個燈塔，告訴人們要提高警惕。

　　30、Great minds think alike.英雄所見略同。

　　mind，頭腦;精神

　　alike，相同的，相像的
